We provide a wide variety of one- and two-bedroomed comfortable accommodation, two of which are specifically designed for those with limited mobility. We consider all ages, the average age of our current residents being 47, and we also consider small families for our two-bedroom units.
Residents benefit from independent living in an affordable and supportive community, close to local shops, schools, and transport. Our beautiful and extensive grounds are available for residents to use and enjoy, and individual raised troughs are available for residents who wish to cultivate their own vegetables.
The Maintenance Contributions for these properties are aligned with the Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rate – i.e. the maximum Housing Benefit amount you can receive – and are currently c£135–£157 (1-bed–2-bed), plus water at £4.50 (single) or £5.50 (couple), per week. Residents on a low income are encouraged to apply for Universal Credit or Housing Benefit, as appropriate.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The COVID-19 situation has taken the country into unprecedented territory. The well-being and safety of our residents, employees and contractors remain the Trustees’ top priority, while we take steps to ensure that the Almshouses continue to function normally as far as possible. As an organisation we are following the guidelines and recommendations of the Government and the Almshouse Association (where applicable), and will continue to do so.
