Surveying the culvert
In July, a team of archaeologists and surveyors ventured into the culvert which runs underneath the Almshouses, to make a photographic record and conduct a laser survey of the section that we have permission to replace. The work involved quite a team of people, including ecologists to ensure that no bats are unduly disturbed during the work, and a rescue team at the entrance for safety reasons. The survey is part of the work we have to do in order to meet the conditions of the planning permission we have been granted to demolish the Primes Close bungalows and build sixteen modern, energy-efficient flats, so that we can expand our provision of affordable housing for local people.
