Saffron Walden named best place to live in UK

We were delighted to hear that Saffron Walden has been named the best place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times! The judges emphasised the town’s “knockout historic looks” and “exploding foodie scene”, whilst local residents praised the friendly community, fantastic schools, independent shops, and beautiful countryside. We agree that Saffron Walden is a lovely place to live and work! It is also an expensive place to live, which is why we are keen to help local people who would not be able to afford to rent privately to stay in the town. Our Trustee Peter Gibson spoke to the BBC, highlighting the fact that Saffron Walden Almshouses are open to applicants over the age of 18; it is a common misconception that almshouses are only for the elderly.
